Hey Readers how are you going welcome to a fresh article where I'm going to run through eight tips to make sure you get the maximum hash rate possible from your CPU mining rig for Raptoreum.

There'll be two parts, one part being everything you need to think about before you build and buy and build a CPU mining rig, and the other everything that you should do after.

Tips To Maximise Your Hashrate When Mining Raptoreum

so just for some context, I have four CPU mining rigs I have three running the ryzen 9 3900x and one running the 3600 out of the three running the ryzen 9 3900x two of them are dedicated CPU miners and the other one also has a couple of GPUs on there for GPU mining and also is my harvester for my cheer plots.

#1 DEDICATED CPU MINING RIGS

That brings me to tip number one which is to wherever possible have dedicated cpu mining rigs I found that with my mining rig that also has the GPUs on it the hash rate that I can achieve is about 100 to 150 hashes per second lower.

that comes from a couple of reasons one I think there's obviously some of the capability or some of the potential and power of the CPU itself is being dedicated to helping coordinate other functions that are running on the rig as it relates to the GPU mining and also the chia farming.

but more importantly than that the when we get to the settings of the mining software itself I can't run my CPU at a higher priority because it then impacts the hash rate that I achieve with my GPUs.

so I'm kind of forced to use a lower priority setting in the CPU mining software so that I can still maintain the hash rate that I need for my GPUs to be worth money.

So I know some people probably in a situation like I was with my first rig where you kind of can't afford to do two different things in that case just be aware you're gonna give up about 100 to 150 hashes per second as it relates to the 3 900 x now obviously if you've got different CPUs you might see some difference there as well.

 #2 CHOOSING A MOTHERBOARD

the second tip to Tips To Maximise Your Hashrate When Mining Raptoreum thing to take into account before buying your rig is the motherboard that you're going to run it on so in one of my videos I built two 3900x cv mining rigs on this motherboard and a520.

we found that the hash rate was being limited by this motherboard not because it can't run a 3900x but basically because of its power a delivery system and the thermal capabilities of the board itself so.

because it was a budget motherboard this one was really struggling to maintain the consistent supply of you know voltage that the CPU needed as a result that was generating excess heat the thermal capabilities on this board weren't great and as a result, the CPU was being throttled basically.

so we were getting around three thousand or two thousand nine hundred hashes per second on one of the three nine hundred and like two thousand four hundred on another.

so what we ended up doing is swapping out that cheaper motherboard and putting in this one the aurora elite v2 in particular not sure if you're going to be able to see that but it is called out for its advanced thermal capabilities.

When you look at the motherboard itself it's got a bunch of extra heat sinks even over and above my 570 motherboards which was the first one I did.

in addition, the power design system and everything like that was again called out for its hiring capabilities I guess I'm not an expert in that but what I would recommend is reading reviews of motherboards to make sure that they are compatible.

Especially when it comes to those higher-end CPUs not necessarily in terms of whether or not they can take the chip itself but whether or not they have the thermal capabilities and power design system required to run that CPU at its maximum output.

now the good news was that we were able to repurpose this board with our 3600 budget build so the tip here really is that lower-end CPU to mid-end CPUs can get away with the cheaper motherboard.

we don't have any problems with our hash rate with this motherboard on that lower end CPU but if you are buying a top top-tier CPU the three 900 5900 3950 or 5950 make sure you spend a little bit more and get a better quality motherboard paying particular attention to the thermal capabilities and power design system that has.

#3 RAM

The third tip To Maximise Your Hashrate When Mining Raptoreum is also related to everything you need to consider before buying and building your rig is ram.

so we do know from most people commenting in discord that two sticks are better than one I don't have any mining rigs that run with just one stick so I haven't been able to validate that me.

but what I do know is that the ram that you have on lower-end CPU mining rigs so my 3600 running on this board I bought ram that runs at 2 400 megahertz and it runs no problem whatsoever hash is very very well above average.

even with the 3900x what I found is you do need to spend a little bit more and ideally get ram that runs at 3200 or 3600 at a minimum check that your motherboard is designed to run the higher ram as well.

I have found with the aurora's elite v2 that when I run my ram at 3600 because I've got both 3200 and 3600 kits at 3 600 it is a little bit more unstable and it crashes every now and then.

I've done some research basically with my motherboard I need to tweak a few other settings in the bios around the voltage delivery to the ram itself to ensure that it has that stability.

so just something to keep in mind but in essence tip three is a lower-end to mid-tier CPU you can get away with cheaper ram higher-end CPU.

I definitely recommend spending a few extra dollars and getting a ram that runs at least 3200 megahertz okay that's my first three tips for everything that you need to think about before you actually have your rig up and running.

#4 UPDATE YOUR XMP PROFILE

We'll now switch over and talk about things that you need to consider once you've built your so the first thing is once you've got your rig built and set up go into the bios and make sure you update your XMP profile to take advantage of that higher tier ram.

if you've bought it so I know a couple of people who've spoken on discord and that you know they've said hey you're like I'm seeing a little bit less than average.

I thought I had ram that ran at this but I checked when I do you know to go to control alt delete task manager my rams only running it you know less than ideal speed it's because they hadn't updated the XMP profile in their bios.

if you're not familiar with how to do that just google your motherboard and the word XMP profile and I'm sure someone somewhere has written about how to do that.

#5 LATEST VERSION OF THE CPU MINER

Recommendation number five Tips To Maximise Your Hashrate When Mining Raptoreum overclock is to make sure you have the latest version of the CPU miner in particular that you are on a version that is 1.2 or higher so we do know version 1.9.

eah 1.19 was kind of like the old version 1.2 there's a big step up in terms of the capabilities of the miner and it does hash at a better rate for the majority of CPUs.

#6 SETTING UP CPU PRIORITY

so that's tip number five now what we're going to do is we're actually going to dive into the config.json file this is where you can go to specify some of the settings that are going to have an impact on your hash rate and performance.

so what you want to do right click on the config.json go to open with and select notepad that'll bring it up here is the text editor where you can edit this file first of all.

when in this file there is this setting here called cpu priority by default i believe it's set to zero and it can go from zero to five cpu priority in my experimenting does have a good impact on the hash rate performance of your miner.

so what i have found is that one everything all of my rigs can run on one all my rigs can one run on two some of my rigs can run on three and when you get if you set the cpu priority to four often you'll start to have crashed on your system.

so you'll need to dial it back what I would recommend is that you start you you basically start on c3 see if it runs on three-dial it up to see if it runs on four if it doesn't run and crashes dial it back to three.

if when you run it the first time on three crashes dial it back to two now this probably has a little bit to do with silicon lottery and everything as it comes with as it relates to your chip.

because out of my 3900x I have basically got two of them that can run sorry out of all four of my rigs I've got two that can run at the higher priority of three without any issues and the other two I have to run it CPU priority two before otherwise, I'll crash if I move them up.

So that's really important to consider and basically you can just adjust this number to whatever you want zero is the default one as I said is safe you will find if you're running it like you can still use the computer as you would any other time.

when you dial it up to two you will notice that your computer is slower for secondary tasks and when you run it up to three basically your miner can't do anything else.

so your computer or your rig can't do anything else it's very slow even to move the mouse across the screen but that shouldn't matter because we are just trying to maximize hash rate performance you shouldn't be kind of like mining and then using this at the same time if your goal is to maximize the performance.

#7 ONCE YOU FIND WHERE YOUR CPU PRIORITY CAN LAND THEN RUN FULL TUNE

tip number seven Tips To Maximise Your Hashrate When Mining Raptoreum once you've found where your CPU priority can land then run full tune so by default this net will here be false and if you run the miner for the first time.

it will not do full chain it will do a simple tune and that will only run for around two hours I believe and it will improve the hash rate a bit but it won't maximize it.

so you do want to set this to true if for whatever reason you've already been running your miner and it's already generated a config file you can just be sorry not a config file tune config file you'll see that here in this file menu just delete it set this to true and run it again.

It will take four hours but it is well worth it because it will maximize the potential.

#8 CUSTOMIZE THREADS

the final thing that's related to this as well would be that by default this is set to zero for threads now if for whatever reason you change this number.

It will run on fewer threads right so like if we're talking about maximizing the performance of your CPU miner if you're running something like the 3900x which has 24 threads don't go and put 12 here because it will only run on 12 threads.

don't go and put 20 unless you want to still retain some threads for other tasks just either leave it as zero or put in the full thread count and you should be fine.

I can't tell you how many times people have said hey I'm only running my CPU on half of its threads and I don't know why my hash rate is less that's because you're running on half the threads.

#9 SET A BENCHMARK

Now when you're playing around with these settings particularly priority and you've done your chin config what you can do is set a benchmark here to true.

why would you want to do that well you want to do that so you can get an idea of the hash rate in 20 minutes rather than 24 to 48 hours.

so you let me explain that a little bit more when you start mining with Raptoreum at the very start you're going to see that your hash rate is all over the place and that is because Raptoreum is actually 15 different algorithms behind the scenes.

It alternates through those different algorithms over time so you'll see that you're hashing at 7 000 hashes per second then you might be hashing it 1 000 hashes per second and a lot of people like why is my hash rate so low or why is my hash rate varying so much.

it's because it's alternating between all of those different algorithms so what you have to do normally is run your miner for 24 to 48 hours to see what the average rate is at the end of that period.

now after you've done that you should then have a number that you can compare on mine Raptoreum or the CPU benchmark dock to ensure that you're getting the average that you should be getting for your particular CPU.

the shortcut to all that is to change this to true and hit save now when you do that you won't actually be mining Raptoreum it's only going to generate a benchmark document so you only want to do this for the purposes of benchmarking.

Then when you're ready to mine you want to change this back to false save this file and then run it again what the benchmark document will do is create a file like this.

As I said it does take 20 minutes and then you'll see this number here which is giving you your expected average now don't worry why those figures.

So now I'm on my windows pc which I don't use for CPU mining I was just doing this as an experiment we're only running a 6700 i7 in this instance but if you're running you know whatever CPU you're running.

it will tell you your expected average now with the ryzen 9 3900x you should be looking for a number of around three and a half thousand.

If whatever reason is significantly different and I'm talking like you know hundreds of hashes per second lower look at those steps that we went through before.

Make sure you've got all of those covered if we're talking about 30 40 50 hashes per second different.

It's most likely silicon lottery with your CPU itself or potentially there are some slight variations with what your rams are capable of things like that.

but it should not be significantly different in my experience because all of my miners I can get to run at three and a half thousand and that's stock settings not overclocked.

CONCLUSION

that brings me to the conclusion of all of my kind of top eight Tips To Maximise Your Hashrate When Mining Raptoreum the one final thing I will mention in relation to this though is a lot of people have asked.

have I overclocked my CPU and what have I done you know what am I settings I spent all of yesterday looking at that and I tried out a number of different settings overclocking the ryzen.

I actually tried to overclock each of my three ryzen 3 900 just to see if you know because with the first one I couldn't get any material difference.

So I tried with the second just to make sure it wasn't silicon lottery and on each occasion, I wasn't actually yet able to get a materially different outcome by trying to overclock my CPU, as a result.

I do run all of my CPUs at the stock the one thing I haven't now gone to try is to see if I can dial back the voltage a little bit while not losing hash rate that will be another experiment that I run certainly.

There are some people who dial back the voltage quite a bit and also have you know played around with their settings to basically underclock it in order to save power.

If you're doing that do expect there to be a difference between the hash rate that you achieve.
